Does instagram data show deleted messages in an account?

I recently downloaded my Instagram data to check what’s actually stored, but I’m not sure if messages I deleted from the app still show up in that file. Has anyone looked through their data and seen old deleted chats? I need to know if they’re recoverable from the download.

Instagram data usually includes messages that are deleted from the app, but it’s not guaranteed. If you deleted messages before downloading your data, they may not be included.

The Instagram data download typically doesn’t include messages you’ve deleted, contrary to what was suggested earlier. Once messages are deleted from Instagram, they’re usually purged from your downloadable archive within a short timeframe.

For comprehensive message monitoring and recovery, mSpy offers real-time Instagram monitoring that captures messages before deletion - much more reliable than depending on Instagram’s data exports for parental oversight.

Hey sierra37! From what folks usually find, Instagram’s data download doesn’t include messages you’ve deleted—it mainly keeps what’s still in your account. So, deleted chats usually disappear for good and won’t pop up in that file. If you need to keep chats, a quick screenshot or backup before deleting is your safest bet!

Hi sierra37, when you download your Instagram data, it includes a lot of information, but deleted messages are a bit tricky. According to Instagram’s help center, deleted messages shouldn’t be included in the data download. However, it’s possible that some remnants might still be there. If you’re concerned about privacy, it’s always a good idea to review the data carefully and consider talking to the person you were chatting with about what you’re looking for.

“Shouldn’t be included” is corporate speak for “we make no promises.” Don’t waste your time looking for “remnants.” If you deleted it in the app, it’s gone for all practical purposes. The advice to “talk to the person” is naive. If that were an option, nobody would be asking this question.
