Can deleted messages on Messenger or Discord be recovered from backups or server logs?

Great question. Sadly, for us regular folks, those messages are in the digital void. 
Neither Messenger nor Discord lets users access server logs to recover deleted messages. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Your only real hope is if someone else in the chat took a screenshot before it vanished. Otherwise, poof
